Where's the Key? (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application Where's the Key? (also known as “Cadê o Tom?”) (the “App”).
Information We Collect
1. Automatically Collected Information
Device Information:
- Device type and operating system (iOS/Android)
- Device language and locale settings
- App version
Audio Data:
- Real-time audio input used to detect the musical key of what you are hearing or playing
- Pitch, note, and chroma information computed locally on your device
- Audio amplitude/signal-strength levels used to determine detection confidence
Advertising Data:
- The App displays ads through Google AdMob, which may collect your device's advertising identifier, IP address, and general device/usage data to serve and measure ads (see “Advertising” below)
2. User-Generated Information
App Settings:
- Preferred audio source (microphone or internal device audio)
- Theme preferences (dark/light mode)
- App language settings
3. Technical Data
Local Storage: All app settings and preferences are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage.
Microphone Access:
- The app requires microphone permission to analyze audio and detect the musical key in real time
- Audio data is processed in real-time and never stored or transmitted
- All audio processing occurs locally on your device
Internal Audio Capture (Android):
- The app can optionally capture audio played by other apps on your device (for example, a music player) to detect its musical key
- This requires your explicit consent through the Android screen/media capture prompt each time it is enabled
- Captured audio is processed in real-time and never recorded, stored, or transmitted
Background Listening (Foreground Service):
- The app may run a foreground service so it can keep detecting the key while the app is in the background
- While active, Android displays a persistent notification indicating that audio is being processed
- No audio is stored or transmitted during background listening
Advertising
The App displays advertisements through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google and its partners may collect and process data such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address, and general device and usage information, in accordance with Google's policies. Depending on your consent and region, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.
How We Use Your Information
- Core functionality: detect the musical key of songs and live audio through real-time pitch and harmonic analysis, display notes/chords/key, support microphone and internal-audio sources, and sync your preferences across sessions
- Audio processing: analyze audio locally, detect pitch/notes/harmonic content, and estimate the most likely key — audio is never stored or transmitted
- Advertising: display ads via Google AdMob to support the App
- App improvement: optimize performance and enhance key-detection accuracy
Data Storage and Security
- App settings and preferences are stored locally on your device and protected by device-level security
- All audio processing occurs in real-time on your device; audio is never recorded, stored, or transmitted
- The App's core detection features work entirely offline. Network access is used only to load advertisements through Google AdMob
